Third European Workshop on Software Defined Networks
After the success of the 2012 and 2013 editions, EICT organises the Third European Workshop on Software Defined Networks. The conference and exhibition will be held from 1-3 September 2014 in Budapest, Hungary.
Software Defined Networking is undoubtedly one of the chief trends in the ICT area. Standardization is actively ongoing in the Open Networking Forum (ONF) and the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), while the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) just released several group specifications on Network Functions Virtualization (NFV). Open-source industry initiatives are also gathering steam. For example, OpenDaylight released the first version (Hydrogen) of its software earlier this year.
The conference attendees should expect active participation from industry and academia, a refreshing “no-hype, no marketing” zone which provides for new insights, ample space for networking and new initiatives. The EWSDN 2014 program features keynotes by industry leaders, paper presentations and demonstrations. In addition, the program includes two tutorials, one organized by European FP7 ALIEN project on OpenFlow-related technologies, and one addressing practical aspects of hybrid SDN deployment and operations. Finally, the 2nd EU-China workshop within the FIRE initiative will also be co-located with EWSDN 2014.
